Who Is (and Isn’t) a Candidate for Women’s Hormone Optimization at Ivim Health?

Hormone optimization is a personalized approach to supporting hormone balance for women navigating perimenopause and menopause. Ivim Health understands how midlife changes in estrogen and progesterone levels can influence symptoms related to sleep, mood, metabolism, and libido.

That’s why we created our Hormone Optimization Program. It is designed to support women with care based on their current health status and goals. Not everyone is a candidate for hormone optimization, and that’s a key part of providing safe, responsible care. In this guide, we’ll walk through who may qualify, who should consider alternative options, and how we can help provide support, whether or not hormone optimization is included in your plan.

What Is Hormone Optimization?

Hormone optimization focuses on supporting estrogen and progesterone levels that shift naturally over time. These hormones influence a range of body systems, including those related to metabolic regulation, energy, sleep quality, and mood.

At Ivim Health, we offer bioidentical hormones in oral and patch-based forms, where appropriate. Our clinical team may also recommend complementary therapies including DHEA cream, sexual health support, and targeted supplements

Women in perimenopause and menopause commonly report symptoms such as:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Irregular or absent menstrual cycles
  • Fatigue and sleep disturbances
  • Weight changes
  • Mood fluctuations or anxiety
  • Vaginal dryness or discomfort
  • Reduced libido

These changes may reflect a shift in hormone levels. Our role is to help you assess these symptoms and create a care plan that aligns with your health history and personal preferences.

Who May Be a Good Fit for Ivim’s Hormone Optimization Program?

You may be a good candidate for Ivim Health’s hormone optimization program if:

  • You’re in Perimenopause or Recently Menopausal: Women experiencing symptoms potentially related to estrogen or progesterone decline, typically in their 40s through early 60s, may benefit from clinical support.
  • You’re Within 10 Years of Your Final Period: Starting hormone optimization within this window is typically considered safer and more effective.
  • You Have No History of Hormone-Sensitive Cancers: Women without a personal history of breast or uterine cancer may be eligible for hormone optimization, pending provider evaluation.
  • You Do Not Have a BRCA Gene Mutation: BRCA mutations may increase cancer risk and should be reviewed carefully with a licensed medical provider.
  • You Do Not Have a History of Cardiovascular Disease: Women with a history of heart attack, stroke, or certain cardiovascular conditions may require additional evaluation to determine appropriate care options.
  • You Do Not Have a Clotting Disorder: Any personal or family history of clotting issues or disorders should be discussed with your provider, as it may impact your treatment options.
  • You Are Not Pregnant or Nursing: Hormone optimization isn’t recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
  • You Have No Unexplained Vaginal Bleeding: Any unexpected or abnormal bleeding should be medically assessed before initiating hormone-related therapies.
  • You Are Comfortable with Telehealth and Monitoring: Our model includes virtual consultations, home lab kits, and ongoing digital communication.

If these criteria apply to you, hormone optimization may be a safe and effective way to manage perimenopause or menopause symptoms. Our team will work with you to confirm eligibility and create a personalized plan that aligns with your health history and goals.

If you are more than 10 years past menopause, or have conditions that increase your risk, such as certain cancers, genetic markers, clotting disorders, or cardiovascular disease, our team may recommend alternate therapies to support your hormone balance and symptom relief.

What If You’re Not Eligible for Hormone Optimization?

Not all women require or are eligible for hormone-based care. Ivim Health offers multiple approaches to support wellness during perimenopause and menopause.

Targeted Supplementation: Nutritional support such as magnesium, vitamin D3 + K2, krill oil, and collagen may assist with muscle health, bone health, sleep quality, and mood.

Sexual Wellness Therapies: Options like topical DHEA and PT-141 (Bremelanotide) may support sexual well-being without systemic hormone use.

Metabolic and Cellular Support: B-12 injections, NMN, and lipotropic treatments are offered to support overall wellness, energy, and metabolism.

Ongoing Clinical Support: Women who are not using hormone optimization can still work with our providers for symptom monitoring, coaching, and personalized health planning.
