How to Stack Healthy Habits

…and let go of perfectionism
Start small, show up Use what you have and do what you can. Consistency over time trumps any setbacks
Aim for progress over perfection Not every day is going to be exactly how you want it, but don’t abandon ship!
Avoid the restart mentality Oftentimes things will get tough and we have this mindset that we’ll start again on Monday. Don’t let one minor hiccup derail your entire week.
Get back to basics When all else fails and things are seemingly unraveling, take a breath and remember the basics:
- Eat vegetables. Ideally 1-3 cups with every meal. The fiber is essential in so many functions of the body and as a culture in general, we’re lacking. Think of good quality meats as your side dish and vegetables as the main meal.
- Eat good quality food. Organic matters, buy it when you can. Ingredients matter, if you can’t pronounce the first 3 ingredients, don’t buy it.
- Listen to your body. It’s going to be working overtime for you as it tries to heal and get you back to health. Give it space, time, and patience.
- And lastly, learn to embrace the journey. You’ll experience the highs and lows, frustrating moments and successes. It’s all part of healing. You’ve got this!
When you embark on a new wellness journey, your body will begin to undergo some immense changes. Movement is still essential, but so is recovery. We want to lower cortisol in the body. Walking, yoga, cold/hot exposure, massage, adequate hydration, all ways to recover. Try setting your circadian rhythm by taking a walk in the morning before breakfast and one in the evening after dinner. Happy Habit Hacking!
